Ducks sign D Festerling to 2-year deal

The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed defenseman Brett Festerling to a two-year contract through the 2010-11 season.
Festerling played 40 games with Anaheim as a rookie last season, recording five assists and 18 penalty minutes. He also played extensively for the Ducks top minor league affiliate in Iowa.

Senators owner Melnyk fires back at Balsillie

Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk fired back at BlackBerry billionaire Jim Balsillie on Thursday.

Blackhawks star Kane indicted in cabbie attack

Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane was indicted Wednesday on misdemeanor assault and theft charges after he was accused of beating up a cab driver over a fare dispute.
The grand jury dismissed a more serious felony charge of second-degree robbery, Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III said.

Yelle signs 1-year deal with Canes

The Carolina Hurricanes have added another veteran skater, agreeing to terms with center Stephane Yelle.
The Hurricanes said Wednesday that the 14-year pro has agreed to a one-year deal worth $550,000.

Rangers sign forward Prospal

The Rangers have signed free agent Vinny Prospal, reuniting the former Tampa Bay Lightning forward with coach John Tortorella.
