Sharks deal 2 defensemen for prospects

The San Jose Sharks traded veteran defensemen Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich to the Vancouver Canucks on Friday for two prospects in a move to create space under the salary cap.

Lashoff re-signs with Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning say they have re-signed defenseman Matt Lashoff to a two-year contract.
General manager Brian Lawton made the announcement Friday. Lashoff was acquired in a trade that sent Mark Recchi to Boston last season.

Canucks sign veteran defenseman Schneider

The Vancouver Canucks have signed veteran free agent defenseman Mathieu Schneider to a one-year contract.

Islanders Mike Sillinger retires after 17 years

New York Islanders center Mike Sillinger decided two hip operations were enough.
The center who played for a record 12 teams during 17 seasons in the NHL is retiring because of an injured left hip.

Canadian sets Sept. 14 deadline for Coyotes deal

Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie has submitted an amended proposed agreement to buy the bankrupt Phoenix Coyotes for $212,5 million and immediately move them to Hamilton, Ontario, with or without the NHLs consent.
