Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk has been picked as hockeys most gentlemanly player for the fourth straight year.

Ovechkin takes 2nd straight NHL MVP award in Vegas

Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin is the NHLs most valuable player for the second straight year after leading the league with 56 goals.

Bostons Thomas wins NHLs top goalie award

Journeyman Tim Thomas has been picked overwhelmingly by NHL general managers as the leagues top goalie.
Thomas earned 22 first-place votes to take the Vezina Trophy. Columbus Steve Mason, awarded the Calder Trophy earlier Thursday night as rookie of the year, was the next closest finalist with three first-place votes. Minnesotas Niklas Backstrom received one.

Bruins D Ference has successful abdominal surgery

The Boston Bruins say defenseman Andrew Ference has undergone successful surgery to repair an abdominal hernia and a torn groin.
Ferences recovery time is estimated at four to six weeks following the surgery Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The 30-year-old Ference played in 47 regular-season games for Boston, recording a goal and 15 assists.
