Selected by Tampa Bay in the second round of the 2003 draft, the 6-4, 213-pound Egener has yet to make his NHL debut. Last season, the 23-year-old German recorded a goal and two assists in 17 games with Norfolk of the American Hockey League and added one tally in nine contests with Mississippi of the ECHL.

Stokes, 24, spent last campaign with Rockford of the AHL, where he registered four goals, six assists and 93 penalty minutes in 55 games. The 6-4, 200-pounder also collected 14 penalty minutes in 12 playoff contests with the IceHogs.

Blackhawks ink C Brent to one-year deal.

The Chicago Blackhawks finally got Tim Brent under wraps Thursday, signing the center to a one-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Chicago acquired Brent from the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 17 for defenseman Danny Richmond. The 24-year-old was scoreless in one game with Pittsburgh last season but recorded 18 goals and 43 assists in 74 contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

A third-round pick of Anaheim in 2004, Brent has notched one goal and six penalty minutes in 16 career NHL games with the Ducks and Penguins.
