Oakland shortstop Bobby Crosby went on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a forced left hamstring, the Athletics players on the DL.
Crosby had Oakland’s first 84 sports event this time of year before he was sidelined Thursday. His DL stretch is retrospective to July 3, worth he won’t be back until after the All-Star vacation.
“Get this point healthful so it doesn’t sidle up yet again,” Crosby said before Saturday’s game against the White Sox. “It be duty-bound to be prone to go after that.”
Crosby was batting .260 with four homers and 38 RBIs. Donnie Murphy took Crosby’s spot at short Saturday night.
Oakland recalled Gregorio Petit from Triple-A Sacramento. Petit joins the A’s for the second time this year. He batted 333 in 10 knockout during his first spell from May 16 to June 19.
It is the fifth career trip to the DL for Crosby, all since 2005. He has unexploited 196 cup because of injuries over the last four .
Crosby is the organ of the A’s to go on the DL in the last four days. Reliever Keith Foulke went on Friday with a sore shoulder and Eric Chavez was more Wednesday, also with a sore shoulder.
The A’s have now used the DL 18 this period, four short of the Oakland record set in 1992 and equaled last time.
