BC names Tranquill offensive coordinator
Gary Tranquill, a former head coach at Navy, was named Boston Colleges offensive coordinator Saturday.
Tranquill replaces Steve Logan, who resigned on January 16 after two years on the Eagles staff.
Navys head coach from 1982-86, Tranquill has served under some of the top coaches in football, including Bill Belichick, Nick Saban, Frank Beamer, George Welsh, Don Nehlen and the late Woody Hayes.
In his most recent job, Tranquill was the quarterbacks coach for the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe in 2007.
Gary Tranquill might be one of the best coaches in America, Boston College coach Frank Spaziani said. He is a great teacher, and I welcome him to our staff. I have coached with Gary, and I have coached against him. Believe me, I like coaching with him better.
Tranquill posted a 20-34-1 record during his five seasons at Navy.
