TORONTO 6, ATLANTA 2
ATLANTA Justin Pogge made 19 saves in his first career start and Alexei Ponikarovsky scored a goal and set up two others as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Atlanta Thrashers, 6-2, on Monday.
Matt Stajan had two goals and an assist while Jeremy Williams and Dominic Moore added a goal and an assist apiece for the Maple Leafs, who have won five of their last six contests.
Niklas Hagman netted the other goal and Nik Antropov had three assists for Toronto, which has not lost in Atlanta since March 29, 2007.
Colby Armstrong and Todd White scored for the Thrashers, who have lost five of their last seven games.
VANCOUVER 4, ANAHEIM 3
VANCOUVER, British Columbia Daniel Sedin scored a pair of goals, helping the Vancouver Canucks escape with a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
Mason Raymond and Ryan Kesler each recorded power-play tallies and Steve Bernier had two assists for Vancouver, which earned its third win in four games.
Samuel Pahlsson tallied, Scott Niedermayer added a goal and an assist and Bobby Ryan scored and set up two other goals for the Ducks.
EDMONTON 4, PHOENIX 2
EDMONTON, Alberta Sheldon Souray used his impressive slap shot to snap a tie 45 seconds into the third period, lifting the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.
Zack Stortini, Marc Pouliot and Andrew Cogliano also scored and Dwayne Roloson made 27 saves for the Oilers, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Ales Hemsky and blue-liner Lubomir Visnovsky had two assists apiece for Edmonton, which has won five straight games over Phoenix. The Oilers have not lost to the Coyotes since February 27, 2007.
Martin Hanzal and Enver Lisin each tallied and Mikael Tellqvist stopped 23 shots for Phoenix, which had posted a 4-0-2 record over its previous six contests.
PITTSBURGH 4, BUFFALO 3 (OT)
BUFFALO, New York Captain Sidney Crosby picked a good time to end his career-long goal-scoring slump. But it didnt come without controversy.
Crosby deflected in the game-winner just 43 seconds into overtime to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
Evgeni Malkin received a pass from Alex Goligoski and one-timed a fluttering shot that Crosby redirected past Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller.
Crosby, who did not have a goal in the previous nine games, may have deflected the puck with his stick above the crossbar - which would have nullified the goalbut the play was reviewed and upheld.
